The coffee was slow to kick in this morning, which is no big deal as it’s Friday and get to start work a half hour later than usual. That’s enough time for a longer, brisker walk in the dark with the dogs. That’ll wake me. And during the walk I’ll sort what work needs to be done today and prepare for action. But I’ll also prepare my emotions for the points I know will be hard: like writing that status report which needs details I don’t yet have; or the difficult email to a customer explaining why they must wait; or tacking a co-worker interpersonal challenge which is simply part of being human, but which I don’t know just yet how to resolve—and maybe can’t. I’m glad it’s Friday though, as I’m nearly out of steam and couldn’t do this well tomorrow if I had to.
