The Good Life - 12/19/2022 - Facing Monday

Some Mondays… It takes effort sometimes for me to tackle a Monday in the way it deserves, or at least the in the way I choose to think a Monday deserves: seriously, and with fortitude and strong resolve. I do this by making a bee-line straight away when I start work at 6:30 AM towards the deep-end of the day, by tackling the most difficult task or challenge which needs to be faced, completed or performed. Then Monday looses it’s sharper teeth, and I discover and remember that I’m always up to any task a Monday holds—in fact, I’ve never known a Monday that I couldn’t beat, unless I was sick, but being ill isn’t failure or defeat…it’s falling down—and I always get back up after falling down. Sure, one day I’ll fall and not get back up, or not fully at least. But, I’m trying hard to be ready for that too—that coming Monday which will mark the beginning of the end. I only hope I’ll recognize when at last I’ve been truly beat; so I can retreat away to safety and let someone younger, stronger and better have their turn at facing Monday down.
