The Good Life - 11/25/2022 - Secret sauce

My body is giving me a break today. Fewer pains. And the brain seems more alert. It’s like driving an old car moving this body around all day. And I know things aren’t likely to get better. Though regular doses of sunlight and saltwater seem to help. I’m alright getting old though. And I like being almost sixty much better than being almost twenty or almost thirty. Back then, my goals were confused and uncertain—a mix of obligation and feigned ambition, the results being what they’ve been. Now, my main goal, after paying the bills each month, is simply virtue; where virtue is defined as seeking after the improved well-being of thinking creatures. And that’s easy to do with a sound moral basis and standards of good living. So, that’s what I’ll do moving soon into my sixth decade. I’ll continue tinkering with what’s right, and striving for what’s good and true and sound. And I’ll keep going to the beach, too—for that sunlight and saltwater which are the seeming secret sauce of my overall well-being.
