The Good Life - 08/15/2023 - “Your book arrived”

Emily came out to the garden last night to tell me “your book arrived. I put it on your desk.” “Thanks!” I said, as she went back inside. My book? What book? I didn’t buy any book. After dinner I went to the office to see, opening the big envelope and discovering “my” book. “Oh! Yeah! This is MY book!” I’d forgot it was coming. The book was the author’s proof for my own (non-AI) new book titled: Stoic Poetry - Volume 1. This was the very first printed draft, sent to me to use for final review before giving the green light to publish. It’s great fun to hold your own book in your hands for the very first time, kinda like holding your own newborn baby. Who is this baby? What’s it like? What might it one day become? What story will it really tell? Today at lunch I’ll give the new book a look-see, and if everything appears in order then I might publish later this week. Volume 2 in this series is already half written (by me, not by AI). Soon, that book will arrive here too. The process of writing, editing and publishing now feels very familiar and in some ways happily unending. Yet, every time a new book does arrive—“MY” book arrives—the feeling is exactly like the happy birth of something new.
