The Good Life - 07/27/2023 - The age of discretion
Updated: Jul 28
There’s an interesting sense of quiet that’s descending upon my life. Nothing much has changed. The fray at work continues—though it’s like someone has turned down the volume low enough to no longer jangle the nerves. LA traffic is bad—though I just drive now like a passenger in a taxi, more witness to the madness than participant. I’m certain it’s my age. It’s time for peace. That doesn’t mean the world is more peaceful now, just that my vision and the lens through which I see has changed, softened; the aperture growing smaller, and becoming more discerning of what stimuli gets in, and more importantly, what stimuli are accepted, processed, and received. I think I’ve reached the age of discretion. And what a beautiful age it seems to be.
