The Good Life - 07/11/2023 - Completed my will
I completed my will yesterday. I can’t believe it took me so long to perform this quite important adult task and responsibly. I got Yumiko to witness and sign the document, bequeathing all my world to her, or to Emily should Yumiko and I pass together. I’ve never been one to keep my affairs in order, though lately I’m compelled to do so by a desire of the delicious peace of mind such worthwhile efforts seemingly bring.
Keeping all my affairs in order is now very important to me, as well as spending time each day tending to my closest and most important human relations, as well as managing both my complete and any incomplete life goals and objectives—everything now needs to be always and nearly fully settled and done—always. This fascinating new daily life effort is like readying, and keeping ready, an old, yet still seaworthy ship for a dangerous storm spied dark on the horizon, churning with rain and roaring winds and the flash of lighting—a storm which I might miss today, or maybe I won’t. In either case though, with my will in hand, my relationships sound, and my life’s work done (if not finished), I feel I’m now as ready as I can hope to be to face whatever weather, seas, seasons or days may come.
The Good Life Meditation is my daily recitation and reminder of personal objectives and principles used in pursuit of a purposeful life in spite of a universe of seeming indifference.
