The Good Life - 03/02/2023 - Are my walking days done? *

I saw Angela the other day at the beach. She’s my friend with cancer. The woman who has decided not to treat her disease and is just letting herself go. She’s an attorney. Still working, though she works from the beach now, in a little blue tent, not wanting to live her remaining days stuck indoors. I saw her—the first time since coming back—though I didn’t say hi as I might still be contagious with Covid. It pleased me to see Angela’s tent, as part of me knows she may soon no longer return. But there she was nonetheless, on a cold, hard and windy evening. Still here, despite the chill wind bending her shelter over and the cancer pressing away at the rest. I brought Angela tea back from Japan to give when it’s safe for us to meet. I’m glad she’s still here. As I really want her to try the tea. And I really want to talk again, and hear Angela tell me about her day.
