It was a scary drive home yesterday, falling asleep on the freeway while driving during rush hour. I did stop the car to doze beside the road which helped, and got me home safe without hurting anyone. I think however that I do need to stop driving any longer than a few minutes until I can figure out what is going on and why I can’t stay awake while driving long distance. And I guess it’s time to make yet another appointment with my doctor...
I don’t really mind whatever is going on with my health. I am getting old after all and it’s time perhaps for these things to begin to happen. Though I’d like to transition Yumiko and I out of the fast-lane of life if this body of mine is indeed breaking down; as I don’t want us stranded among the high-speed motorists (literally and figuratively) blaring their horns and shouting their upset at us for not keeping up the hard core and frenetic Southern California pace. And I certainly don’t want to hurt anyone or fail in my responsibility by remaining too long.
It’s very good that we’ve recently been to Japan, which Yumiko and I have clearly identified as our safe parachute landing zone should we need to jump out of the plane of current life. And our parachutes are packed… I need to remember that—we can jump if we need to.
But, I don’t want to jump. As we still have good work here to complete. There’s still another few years left to finish our America goals. I guess I’ll just ring Dr. Doh again today to make an appointment for Friday to talk. It’s a good thing his office is just down the street from where I live, as it seems I can no longer trust myself to drive any further than that. Though maybe I’ll just walk over to see him…
