How can I maintain temperance for more than a decade?

Updated: Aug 26, 2022

Hi Eric,

I'm glad to hear that you are finding Going Alone interesting and that you are inspired to get outdoors. Temperance is a daily challenge for me on every front. Mostly, I maintain this virtue through the establishment of routine. For example, I only allow myself one large bottle of beer (Japanese Kirin, of course) or two small cans of the same per night. That way, I don't have to worry about intemperance as long as I am following my own rules and limits. Likewise, with everything else in my life. In this way, I can establish temperate habits (for everything, not just beer) that last for months, years and decades.

I hope that this helps.

Kurt
