The Good Life - 09/11/2023 - A house near a clinic

Updated: 6 days ago

Ailments are starting to pile on now—as expected, I guess. I’ll need to take half a day off again today to go check something new out. There is an understood reason disease accumulates in old age. I remember learning about this in school. It has to do with the end of our reproductive years, when we become removed from the pool of genetic selection by virtue of the fact we are no longer strong candidates for making kids. Selection then can no longer reach us, and the diseases which only onset in old age are then passed successfully to the next generation by virtue of the fact that we manifest no symptoms until we are too old to count. It’s an interesting biological loophole as well as a seeming cull when the time is right. I guess I’d better get used to the fact that Yumiko and I have now entered this season of life. And I guess it really is a good idea for us to buy a house in Japan which is close to both a clinic and a hospital.
