The Good Life - 09/01/2023 - Commencement
Updated: 6 days ago
At work now everything seems like it’s coming to an end, which feels premature, as I still have fifteen months. I got a new project to work on yesterday. Not a huge project, but good size. I hope I can see it to the end. I was also taken off the lead role with another project and put in a position of support. I expected that to happen too. As it’s time for someone younger to drive. A coworker warned me yesterday not to go. She said I won’t know what to do with myself. I told her I’ll be right. She clearly did not believe me. That unsettled me a bit.
This is exactly how I remember my last year at university—it’s my daughter’s last year now, actually—as I wound up my last classes and began to wonder and worry about the “real” life after school. No one warned me then not to go, though I did often wish I could do have stayed. This is exactly the same feeling— The word “commencement” comes to mind.
