The Good Life - 06/23/2023 - The horror next door *
A very difficult day yesterday. Something utterly horrifying happened to our next door neighbor—beyond belief. I was outside before dinner when she came over to talk across our fence and tell me about what had occurred, tears streaming. Yumiko picked up what was happening and left dinner on the table without calling me in. My neighbor and I spoke for an hour while she feed treats to our dogs, something she enjoys doing. I had to be careful with my words as I tiptoed around the horror. I’m glad our neighbor has become close enough to Yumiko and me to confide. We’re here for her.
