Going to Japan for Emily’s college

An interesting option we’ve uncovered for Emily’s future is the idea of going back to Japan for college. It seems Japanese universities are keen to admit foreign students, which fact Emily might leverage by talking out of only one side of her mouth. This is especially intriguing to me, as college life in Japan is very different from the experience in the USA. In Japan, the four years of undergraduate study are the halcyon years of life, a time to be lived and enjoyed fully, and a period when one’s deepest social connections, life interests, and memories are forged. I know the same is true here, though there’s a depth of this experience which is stereotypical of college life in Japan which is hard to ignore as an option in helping Emily decide her next step.

ABOUT

Going Alone was begun by Kurt Bell in an effort to help others understand and manage  the recognition of the apparent indifference of the universe to our well being, happiness or even our existence, and to find ways to make a good life in spite of this fact.
