Yumiko and I spent the day together daydreaming about life when we go back to Japan, where we hope to buy a small place to live somewhere interesting and where we can spend our days doing whatever. Browsing real estate listings, we found this old place on a sleepy ginza shopping street in Atami. Being a retail street, the first floor opens to present a small storefront, where we could operate a little store, or maybe a coffee shop or even a ”snack” style bar. I especially like the private rooftop where we could have a little garden. The question is…should we go for a funky old urban place or a more spacious (yet probably equally funky and old) place away from the downtown bustle? We’re still several years out from making this change, so there’s lots of time to think. And it sure is fun to dream while we wait!
