Day seven

Day seven: Leaving our little house I called to Yumiko in the kitchen “I’m going for a swim!” She responded, “can’t you hear that wind howling?” I could hear the wind. And I soon felt it too, standing bare-skinned before the cold November sundown. But I’m glad for the wind, and the cold, and another setting sun. A good reminder of another day I’ve done my best to live well. Not perfect by any means. But a good day to be sure. A solid day passed in the pursuit of virtue, where virtue is nothing more than the seeking to improve the well being of thinking creatures. My swim is done. My whole body is shaking with a deep chill and the pleasant peace of the good use of time. Now, I’ll go home to my wife, my little dogs, a warm dinner and bed. Tomorrow will be another day.
