Day eight ocean swim

I thought today would be a solid day of work, but then my daughter became sick and I took the day off to help her see a doctor and bring her home from college to get well. She’s alright. Just a flu. As we arrived home I asked if she had an appetite and wanted to eat? She answered “I want mom’s food” which warmed my heart—me too.

After that, I faced some ridiculous challeges trying to wash Emily’s car and check the air pressure in the tires. She was home and I was out alone with her car. I had to stop and ask myself to recalibrate my attitude and expectations in alignment with my principles. That did the trick—kinda. Though a part of me remained frustrated with the comedy of errors over a car wash and tire pressure check. But, I still made it to the beach in time to swim before the dark. That won’t last though, as darkness is coming sooner every day. I keep telling myself I’ll continue swimming into the winter and into the night. I’ve got the resolve. Let’s see if I also have the fortitude.

Now, it’s time to go home and check on my kid. Last I saw she was snuggled on the sofa with her dogs.
